Behind the Seams – September at Ingeneious Threads

If you had walked into either of our houses this week, you’d have found us stepping over boxes, dodging piles of packaging, and trying to remember which room the new printer ended up in. Right now, home looks less like home and more like a mini warehouse — stickers, stationery, invoices, and merchandise scattered everywhere. And yet… it feels exciting, because this chaos means Ingeneious Threads is growing.

Diane and I made a pact with each other: in September we’re going to post on social media every single day. It’s a big promise (especially when we’re already spinning a hundred plates), but we know that showing up consistently is how people will get to know us, our story, and the vision behind IGT.

There’s also the technical side we’re still wrestling with — SEO, Google Merchants, all the background stuff that no one sees but makes a massive difference. Some days it feels like learning a new language, but we’re determined to crack it.

On the more exciting side, we’ve been kitting ourselves out with Ingeneious Threads merch: pens, t-shirts, pull-up stands, even branded tablecloths so we’re ready to do pop-ups properly. Being from Wishaw, we’ve also started linking up with local businesses — and the support has been amazing. Honestly, most of our sales so far have come from locals. That means the world to us, because it shows people here believe in what we’re doing.

We’ve been buying spring stock, and after a lot of back-and-forth, we finally have our adaptive pants sampler almost ready to launch. This feels huge — it’s another step in turning an idea into something real that can actually help people.

But if we’re completely honest, we’ve been running ourselves ragged. We’re still doing our day jobs, spending late nights packaging orders, grabbing the nearest snack instead of cooking something proper, and not exactly prioritising exercise or wellbeing. When we look at recent photos, we can see the tiredness etched on our faces — a few extra years here and there.

And yet, we wouldn’t change it. This is the messy middle of building something from scratch. The stage where you’re equal parts exhausted and exhilarated, where your kitchen doubles as a packing station, and where every small win feels like a giant leap.

So here we are — messy houses, tired faces, and big dreams. September is about showing up, connecting with more people, and getting closer to launching the pieces we’ve been working so hard on.

Thanks for being with us on this journey — every like, share, and order reminds us why we started.
